This week we bring you another interview from yet another International DJ playing at the 4U Rage Festival.

We caught up with Martin Stimming aka ‘Stimming’ and asked him a few questions regarding his tour of South Africa.

In this Interview we speak about Production , South Africa , Live performance & Twizzling Liquorice snakes.

1. I suppose that you are on tour actually or maybe in studio at this moment. Where are you reading this interview?

“I’m on my way to the studio and I’m carrying a new synthesizer with me – its a dave smith instruments poly evolver, looks like a spaceship and sounds like one as well. I’m in the tube right now.

2. For those who are unfamiliar with “Stimming”, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and your music?

“well, I’ve been releasing music since 2006 under the name stimming (which also is my last name) and from then on I’ve also been able to do this for a living. but I produce music since I’m 16, this is about 14years ago.

3. Compare the scene today to how it was like a few years ago when you first stepped into the game. What has changed? Would you say it is way more difficult to make it nowadays?

“no, the good point about the music industry is that you can make it if you can produce great music! the bad point is that too many people think they do great music.

4.Do you mind sharing how you produce some of those gorgeous sounds that you’ve become known for?

“layering plastic sounds with organic ones is probably the most important thing. organic sounds? ones that you record by yourself, with a microphone.

5.Which of your tracks would you recommend your fans play for people who have never heard you before?

“Melodica ; Una Pena ; Kleine Nachtmusik

6.Apart from playing with the likes of Tube & Berger, Madeon & Danny Avila, any specific South African artists you’re going to give a listen to?

“I don’t know any south african artist (apart from my man lazarus, with whom I did funk with me, change and the song) as well as other artists. I’m playing live exclusively and I never djed, thats why I’m very bad at names.”

7.What can fans expect from your performance at shows on your tour to South Africa?

“I will give my best! thats why its going to be intense, full of energy, really live (i carry a synth with me) and all this in a positive mood, even when its getting darker or melancholic sometimes during my set

8. Everyone’s got a hidden talent. What’s yours?

“I’m good at twizzling liquorice snakes…”

9.Are there any aspects of the genres that you produce, or the events that you perform at, that turn you off?

“The play-times usually are body and sleep-unfriendly

10. What are your first impressions of our website (

11.We’re reaching the end of this interview, would you like to say something to your fans who are reading this one and who have supported you during all these years?

“Take care – about you, your partner and your life”
